England's preparation for the eagerly anticipated day-night Ashes Test will include a two-day, pink-ball match against the Prime Minister's XI. Cricket Australia confirmed the fixture on Tuesday, July 29. This marks a significant change, as previous encounters with the PM's XI were limited to one-day matches until the 2022-23 season.
The pink-ball game is scheduled between the first and second Test matches, taking place at Manuka Oval in Canberra on November 29 and 30. Following this, England will face Australia in the day-night Test at the Gabba, commencing on December 4.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese expressed his enthusiasm for the match. "I look forward to meeting with the selectors to finalise a PM's XI squad that showcases the best available talent from across Australia to take on the strong English team," he stated.
This match against the PM's XI will be the second warm-up fixture for the touring England side. The first will be an intra-squad match against England Lions, held before the opening Test in Perth.
