India vs. England: Batting Coach Sitanshu Kotak Anticipates Bowler-Friendly Conditions at Lord's
As the Indian team prepares for the third Test against England at Lord's, fueled by their historic victory at Edgbaston, batting coach Sitanshu Kotak has shared his insights on the expected conditions and the mindset crucial for success in London.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Kotak addressed the anticipated nature of the Lord's pitch. "The pitch is very green," he observed. "We will get a clearer picture after the grass is cut tomorrow. We can expect help for bowlers… a strong mindset will be key for the batters."
India's dominant 336-run victory in the second Test at Birmingham secured their first-ever Test win at Edgbaston and leveled the five-match series at 1-1.
Despite the prediction of a green top at Lord’s, Kotak expressed confidence in his team's ability to adapt.
“Indian batters are very skilled; without taking undue risks, they are consistently scoring at a good rate,” he stated.
Kotak humbly declined personal credit for the team's recent batting performances. "I would not like to take credit for the batters scoring runs; it is all their effort. This wicket will present a challenge, but we are not overthinking it.”
Regarding the nature of the pitches encountered thus far in the series, he downplayed comparisons to those found on the subcontinent. “Our bowlers have used the conditions well. The ball has moved when our bowlers bowled. I don’t believe these were subcontinent-type pitches," he clarified.
Addressing the outstanding performance of Shubman Gill, who led the charge with scores of 269 and 161 in the previous Test, Kotak lauded his mindset and technique. “Nothing has changed because of captaincy. His mindset has been positive – he's willing to spend time at the crease, and he has the skill to capitalize on loose balls. There have been technical adjustments he has implemented.”
With momentum firmly in their grasp, India aims to extend their dominant form into the Lord's Test, where both the pitch conditions and the opposition are poised to test their resilience.
