Nurul Hasan, despite a period of being out of favor, has been named in Bangladesh's 25-member preliminary squad for the upcoming Asia Cup and the subsequent three-match T20I series against the Netherlands. The series is scheduled for later this month.
While Nurul finds a place in the squad, Mossadek Hossain was not considered, despite consistent performances in domestic cricket. Mossadek was also excluded from the A team tour.
All-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz has retained his place in the preliminary squad for the Asia Cup, despite concerns about his recent form in the T20I format. Miraz's performances in Bangladesh's recent T20I tour of Sri Lanka and the series against Pakistan were underwhelming.
Nurul, along with five other squad members, is expected to miss a significant portion of the preparation camp. They will be traveling to Australia for the upcoming T20 Series 2025 in Darwin, Australia, scheduled for later this month.
The players heading to Australia on August 9 include Nurul Hasan, Mahidul Islam, Saif Hasan, Hasan Mahmud, and Naim Sheikh.
Following the T20 series, the Bangladesh A team will participate in a four-day game against South Australia, marking their second appearance in the tournament after their debut in 2024.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) stated, "The available players will report for a fitness camp at SBNCS, Mirpur on 6 August. The skill practice will begin at the SBNCS from 15 August before the camp moves to Sylhet on 20 August."
The Netherlands team is scheduled to arrive on August 26. They will play three T20Is on August 30, September 1, and September 3, all held in Sylhet, before departing on September 4.
